Charlie Roberts, Marlborough Contemporary, London, UK

Marlborough Contemporary is pleased to present Juicy, a solo exhibition of new works by American artist Charlie Roberts.

Appropriating its title from Notorious B.I.G’s 1994 debut single, Juicy fuses elements of hip-hop subculture with myriad art history influences – from Byzantine iconography to Matisse, via folk art and comic books – representing the artist’s freestyle approach to high and low culture.

From Press release:

David Risley Gallery is proud to present Charlie Roberts' third solo show at the gallery. The exhibition presents new drawings on paper and gouache on canvas. The new works blend Matisse's La Danse and Biggie Smalls' Juicy to produce delicate, pastel toned paintings of slinky, sweaty, sporty girls working out with Daliesque weights, bags of cash and skateboarding monkeys.

During the opening Charlie Roberts' custom made caps will be available to buy.

New Opening Days

Charlie Roberts, Atomica Gallery, London, UK

Atomica Gallery is proud to present SOFT LIFE/HARD NITES, a solo exhibition of new works from visionary American artist Charlie Roberts (b.1984).

Celebrating the idiosyncratic and sometimes chaotic nature of contemporary life, Charlie Roberts is an uncompromisingly energetic and uninhibited artist. Growing up in Kansas, the influence of the US state’s folk art roots is clear; Roberts creates from instinct and refuses to over-think his process.

Time Waits for Us, Galleri Magnus Karlsson

Galleri Magnus Karlsson is pleased to announce a group exhibition that will be on display throughout the summer. In conjunction with the inauguration of Nationalmuseum’s temporary space with the exhibition Carl Larsson - Friends and Enemies in our building (The Royal Academy of Fine Arts), we will show Time Waits for Us . This exhibition presents new works by all of our gallery artists.

Freedom world tour

Galleri Magnus Karlsson is pleased to introduce Charlie Roberts’ first exhibition in Sweden. Charlie Roberts was born in Hutchinson, Kansas in 1983 but is now settled outside of Oslo, Norway.

The exhibition ”Freedom World Tour” shows off Roberts’ broad repertoire paintings, sculptures and film and is in many ways autobiographical. Freedom, the artist’s band, will perfom live during the opening night, and a music video made by Roberts is part of the exhibition. A series of fifty drawings make up a storyboard to a film that will be shoot during the band’s upcoming US tour.
