A Year of Making Meaning: New Additions to the Collection 2020 highlights some of the numerous works collected by FWMoA in the last two years. A main component of our mission is to not only collect fine works of art, but to put them on regular display for the community. Like many museums, we are unable to display the entirety of our collection at once, but this exhibition is one of the ways we can showcase some of our newest, brightest stars.

We are pleased to present a solo exhibition by Peter Köhler (b.1971) at the sixth edition of Chart Art Fair in Copenhagen, Denmark. Following the well-received exhibition Crepuscular Tales in the Stockholm gallery late 2017, Köhler has completed a new series of large scale drawings. The American art critic Terry R. Myers wrote in his essay about Köhler’s carefully detailed drawings:
Galleri Magnus Karlsson moves to London this autumn!
After nearly 20 years at art fairs in Europe and the USA we are trying out new ways of presenting our artists internationally. During 2018 we have taken a pause from international art fairs to explore the possibilities with pop-up exhibitions.

We are pleased to present Peter Köhler’s fifth solo exhibition in the gallery. Crepuscular Tales is a series of 36 drawings which will be presented as an installation in the main room of the gallery. A catalogue with all works from the suite as well as an essay by American critic and curator Terry R. Myers will be availble. Below an excerpt from the essay:
Peter Köhler draws like a dream, and maybe he dreams like his drawings. His works on paper are triumphs of pictorial alchemy, amalgamations of three core elements that anchor their persistent yet never repetitive production. The first is a type of close observation that is somehow both tenacious and casual, taken and selected from—it seems—everything he happens to see.
June 2016–June 2017, original work from the series Plain Air by Peter Köhler, Zinkendamm.
May 2014–April 2015, original works by Lisa Jonasson, Zinkensdamm.
March 2010–February 2011, Nachtspiel by Jens Fänge, Zinkensdamm.

It’s midday and I ride my bike along Katarinavägen. A man has parked his motorcycle next to some bushes. He sits with his eyes closed, back straight, ceremonially, with his legs crossed. Right next to him a large double-handed sword is stuck in the ground. On another occasion, I pass a small crossroad to Hantverkargatan next to Kungsholmstorg. A large and vigorous hare lies in the middle of the street. It’s alive but the hind legs are hanging limply. A few people stand around looking, someone is talking on a cellphone.
