Stilla liv / Still Life, Hellvi Kännungs, Gotland
We are pleased to announce the ninth summer exhibition at Hellvi Kännungs, Gotland, Sweden. The exhibition Still Life presents a personal selection of paintings, sculptures and photographs around the concept of still life. Pictures and objects of subjects which have been carefully arranged or where everyday life and chance have set the stage. In some works the objects are loaded with content and history, in others reduced to forms and surfaces in a composition.
Sara-Vide Ericson, Hälsinglands Museum, Hudiksvall, Sweden
Från pressrelease (In Swedish only):
Den kritikerhyllade utställningen Interior ambush är ett samarbete mellan Galleri Magnus Karlsson, Kalmar konstmuseum och Hälsinglands museum. Sara-Vide Ericson har rötterna i Hälsingland och hennes konstnärskap erövrar nu nationellt en allt starkare ställning, både bland kritiker och publik. Hennes bildkonst har en tung, gestaltande kroppslighet av den synliga verkligheten, en kraftfull materialism som också har drag av uråldrighet och myt.
Intermezzo, Group Exhibition with Gallery Artists

Sara-Vide Ericson's exhibition Interior Ambush opens at Kalmar Art Museum in the beginning of February 2020.
From press release:
In the exhibition Interior Ambush, Sara-Vide Ericson shows a series of new paintings in larger formats that deal with our relationship to artifacts, rituals and places. The artist's own, personal history, her body and the landscape that surrounds her, and which has done so since her childhood, become tools for staging, which through painting become transformed into engaging and touching stories.

Sara-Vide Ericson, Interior Ambush, Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Stockholm, Sweden
We have the pleasure to announce a solo exhibition by Sara-Vide Ericson in the grand rooms of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm. The exhibition Interior Ambush presents a series of new paintings, several in larger scale, dealing with our relationship to artifacts, rituals and places. Sara-Vide Ericson uses her own personal history, body and surrounding landscapes in performances that are transformed by the painting process into haunting and urgent narratives.
Främlingar / Strangers at Hellvi Kännungs, Gotland, Sweden
The exhibition is extended until August 1. Open Wednesday July 31 and August 1 between 2–6 pm!
This exhibition is a personal selection of works that all formally resemble the portrait. Some of them are made as portraits of specific people, while others merely use the human face as a means of expression. Common to all drawings, paintings and sculptures is that the depicted a person is the main motif of the work. The oldest artwork in the exhibition dates from the 17th century, the last one was finished only a few weeks ago.
Sara-Vide Ericson, Eighteen Gallery, Copenhagen, Denmark
There is a world, a world before and beyond language, an ancient, primordial world. We all sense it – some to a bigger extend than others. Hunter gatherer. There was a language of images before these letters. A painterly language that many still intuitively recognize. We don’t always know how to decipher this language verbally, but we feel it calling us from the forests, the mountains, the oceans and the caves. Hunter gatherer painter. Reaching out, tapping our senses, activating our emotions, connecting us to the beyond.
Stockholm Calling, Asia House, London, UK
Galleri Magnus Karlsson moves to London this autumn!
After nearly 20 years at art fairs in Europe and the USA we are trying out new ways of presenting our artists internationally. During 2018 we have taken a pause from international art fairs to explore the possibilities with pop-up exhibitions.
Cries and Whispers at Trafo Kunsthall, Oslo, Norway
Cries and Whispers is a group exhibition presenting Swedish contemporary painting and sculpture. Here, eight artists, born in the 60s, 70s and 80s, are invited to represent a figurative art movement that has received great attention in Sweden and internationally. The title, borrowed from Ingmar Bergman’s film Cries and Whispers from 1972, echoes in the exhibition. There is a strong relationship between these artists, but also crucial differences in their approach. Both the intimate, vulnerable whispers and the distant, powerful cries can be traced.

Sara-Vide Ericson, Örebro Konsthall, Sweden
From Press release ( in Swedish only):
I mötet mellan det förflutna och nuet hittar Sara-Vide Ericson stoff för sina nya arbeten (2016). Det är en personlig uppgörelse med rötter och ett nystande av trådar bakåt i generationerna. Hon har bland annat använt sig av stulna kläder, ärvda föremål och iscensatt sina bilder på ”heliga” platser. Genom att använda sig av en performativ och mer intuitiv metod, där en händelse återskapas eller snarare levs, har hon upplevt en större frihet i arbetet och utmanat sig själv.

Heavy Water / Tungt vatten, essay by Sanna Samuelsson
PROLOGUE:
My mind wanders to the blue mountains of Hälsingland. This is, however, no idyllic vision of nature, but rather a frightening one. Wolves live here, bears and all kinds of predators. We're traveling by car from Bollnäs, where I just arrived by train, and twilight is falling fast. Sara-Vide Ericson and I are getting to know one another. We found each other one evening in a corner of a pool hall in Södermalm. We “found each other” – that's precisely the how we put it.

Wednesday April 20, 6.00 pm
Fermenting, Sara-Vide Ericson, Galleri Magnus Karlsson
We have the pleasure to present Sara-Vide Ericson’s fourth solo exhibition in the gallery; Fermenting. The exhibition features paintings made in the last year. The work of the exhibition coincided with the artist moving back to her former home in Hälsingland, Sweden. In the encounter between the past and the present, she has found material for her new works. It’s a personal settlement with her roots and the unraveling of previous generations. She has among other things used stolen clothes and inherited objects when staging her tableaus in “sacred” places.

Sara-Vide Ericson, V1 Gallery, Copenhagen, Denmark
There is intimate tension and quiet suspense in the new paintings and drawings by Sara-Vide Ericson. We are in the woods, in the borderland between culture and nature. In beautiful and eerie tableaus Ericson takes us on a tightrope walk between the conscious and subconscious. In the painting Being Obvious (Oil on Canvas, 135 x 110 cm, 2014) a girl exits a shed shoeless in the woods. She is startled, her body caught in attentive movement. A harsh bright light hits her jacket and tears into the fibers of the jacket, the canvas and her very being.

Maria Nordin & Sara-Vide Ericson, Eorum Sanai, Arario Gallery, Cheonan, Korea
The exhibition title, EORUM SANAI (Ice Man), is directly in reference to Novelist Murakami Haruki‟s short story “Ice Man.” In this story, the protagonist is simply called “ice man” from beginning to end, without any mention of his actual name or any hint at personal backgrounds. He is a man without a history about how he lived in the past, what he will be doing in the future, or what he should be doing; the only thing the readers know is the fact that he is there at the present moment in which he exists.
Liar
Galleri Magnus Karlsson is proud to present Sara-Vide Ericson's first solo exhibition in the gallery. In February we showed her paintings from the series "Ride" at the Market Art Fair and a small presentation of drawings in the gallery. Now she returns with a major exhibition titled "Liar" in all three rooms of the gallery.
