From Press release:
David Risley Gallery is proud to present Charlie Roberts' third solo show at the gallery. The exhibition presents new drawings on paper and gouache on canvas. The new works blend Matisse's La Danse and Biggie Smalls' Juicy to produce delicate, pastel toned paintings of slinky, sweaty, sporty girls working out with Daliesque weights, bags of cash and skateboarding monkeys.
During the opening Charlie Roberts' custom made caps will be available to buy.
Charlie Roberts recently collaborated with Soulland, Copenhagen, designing their Spring/Summer 2016 menswear collection. A party featuring Hip Hop DJs will be co-hosted by the gallery and Soulland in The Gutter at the gallery following the opening.
Parallel to the exhibition in the gallery we will present a solo booth of new works by Charlie Roberts at SUNDAY Art Fair, London (October 14 - 18) featuring modified rugs, ceramic pots and figures.
Charlie Roberts, 1983, Kansas, USA.
