Krig, hjältemyter och monument snurrar i mitt huvud och jag låter barndomens favorit, "Sankt Göran och Draken" i Storkyrkan i Stockholm bli min informant i nuläget. Det våldsamma motivet i skulpturen och beställarens krigiska natur finner sin motpol i verkets känsliga materialhantering och omvända maktförhållande där den dödligt sårade drakens kropp är det som bär hästen och det blivande helgonet Sankt Göran. Snidat och förgyllt trä samsas med materialrealistiska material som hästtagel, läder och upphittade älghorn formulerade tillsammans i en vindlande skulptural empati. Drakklons grepp, den erekta tungan, snabelskorna och hästarslet bär med sig 1400-tals-samtidens humor och kritik.
Draken, prinsessan och riddaren reser på samma sköra klot och Thread the Needle är en gemensam uppmaning att finna en annan väg som skapar balans och harmoni för motsatta krafter och intressen. Nålen är mäktigare än svärdet. Jag låter historiska material masseras genom hantverk, 3d-print och skulptur med en textil blick på människorna och världen.

War, hero myths and monuments are spinning in my head and I let my childhood favorite, Saint George and the Dragon (Sankt Göran och Draken) in Storkyrkan in Stockholm, be my informant at the moment. The violent motif of the sculpture and the the client of the commissioned work’s warlike nature find its opposite in the work's delicate handling of the material and reverse power relationship where the deadly wounded dragon's body is what carries the horse and the future saint, Saint George. Carved and gilded wood is combined with material-realistic materials such as horsehair, leather and found moose horns formulated together in a winding sculptural empathy. The dragon claw's grip, erect tongue, cracows and horse ass carry with them 15th-century contemporary humor and criticism.
The dragon, the princess and the knight travel on the same fragile globe and Thread the Needle is a joint invitation to find another path that creates balance and harmony for opposing forces and interests. The needle is more powerful than the sword. I let historical materials be massaged through crafts, 3D printing and sculpture with a textile look at people and the world.
