Galleri Magnus Karlsson has partnered with Hotel le Manoir in Banyuls-sur-Mer, France. We will make on-site exhibitions with gallery artists and also work towards an exchange between the artists, guests of the hotel and the local cultural scene. The first exhibition presents more than 30 works by 16 of the gallery’s artists.The works are not selected on the basis of a special theme, but there are a number connections to the geographical location, the building and the local nature and culture.

Nestled in the foothills of the Pyrenees mountain range, Banyuls-Sur-Mer is a charming old fishing village, with quaint narrow streets and an excellent beach. It has a population of 4,000 and is France’s most southern resort town. Banyuls-Sur-Mer thrives on its vineyards and it is best known for its vin doux naturel, simply referred to as Banyuls. The area boasts the cleanest water in the Mediterranean and, as a result, is home to Paris University’s oceanology laboratory, Laboratoire Arago. The clean water also makes it an important centre for diving and sport fishing.

Galleri Magnus Karlsson har inlett ett samarbete med Hotel le Manoir i Banyuls-sur-Mer, Frankrike. Vi kommer att göra utställningar på plats med galleriets konstnärer och även verka för ett utbyte mellan konstnärer, hotellets gäster och det lokala kulturlivet. Den första utställningen presenterar mer än 30 verk av 16 av galleriets konstnärer. Urvalet är inte gjort med ett speciellt tema i åtanke, men utifrån de enskilda verkens kopplingar till det geografiska läget, byggnaden och den lokala naturen och kulturen.

Banyuls-sur-Mer är beläget i franska Katalonien (nära den Spanska gränsen) där Pyrenéerna möter Medelhavet. Det är en charmig gammal fiskeby, med pittoreska smala gator och en utmärkt strand. Befolkningen på 4 000 livnär sig främst på vinodling och är känt för sitt naturligt söta vin Banyuls. Området har Medelhavets renaste vattnet och här finns också Paris universitets havslaboratorium, Laboratoire Arago. Det rena vattnet gör det också till ett viktigt centrum för dykning och sportfiske.
