Tommy Hilding & Duda Bebek | Chart Art Fair: Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, Denmark
We are deligted to present a two-person exhibition with artists Duda Bebek and Tommy Hilding at Chart Art Fair. Both painters, but from different generations and backgrounds. Tommy Hilding works carefully and methodically with a painting that constantly develops and deepens in its theme. His later, more personal paintings are still characterised by a distanced and socially engaged view of the world.Duda Bebek's paintings are highly autobiographical and revealing. Her works are expressive and dreamy diary entries of contemporary life.
Tommy Hilding
Tommy Hilding works with a large variety of expressions in his paintings. He explores several paths simultaneously, and sometimes combines them in one painting. At the core there is a documentary and realistic visual language in which Hilding carefully constructs images of urbanity or the surrounding nature. A more abstract and spontaneous way of painting eats its way into theimagery and exists both inside and outside the motif itself. Tommy Hilding’s paintings portray an ambivalence and rootlessness that exist in our time. He challenges chronology and reverses concepts with a language that is playful yet urgent.
Tommy Hilding (b.1954 in Skagersvik, Sweden) lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden. He has exhibited at galleries and institutions since the late 1980s. He is represented in the collections of Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Västerås Konstmuseum, Norrköpings Konstmuseum, Stockholm City, Folke Bernadotte Academy, Kramfors, and The Public Art Agency Sweden.
Duda Bebek
Duda Bebek explores themes related to modern motherhood. Through personal and revealing images, she depicts scenes where the worlds of mother and child merge in intimacy or separate in moments of conflict. A suggestive imagery, where everyday realism meets echoes of art history and allegories. We are taken on a dramatic journey through the small passages that make up life – a fragile existence where calm and chaos coexist.
Duda Bebek was born 1983. She lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden. She was educated at the Valand Academy in Gothenburg, Sweden (2007–2012) and Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna,
Austria (2010–2012). She has exhibited in Sweden and internationally since 2013. She is represented in the collection of The Public Art Agency Sweden and LKV, Sweden (Linköpings konstmuseums vänner).
