Bella Rune in group show at Börjesson Perrotti, Paris, France

’Of Energy and of Sprits’. Opening May 29, 2026

In May, the Grand Palais will open a major exhibition dedicated to the Swedish painter Hilma af Klint, a pioneer of abstract painting whose work was shaped by mysticism and Theosophy. In dialogue with this exhibition, Börjesson Perotti presents an upcoming exhibition bringing together six contemporary artists whose practices engage, invoke, or otherwise situate themselves in relation to the spiritual.

If earlier figures such as Helena Blavatsky, Annie Besant, and Hilma af Klint approached the spiritual as revelation, the artists gathered here engage with it differently. In their work, the spiritual or paranormal appears less as doctrine than as a field of reference: as a language, a structure of feeling, a cultural inheritance, or a way of approaching forms of lived experience that exceed rational explanation. Unburdened by the need to affirm belief, these artists use, invoke, or work adjacently to the spiritual as a means of exploration.

Participating artsists: Priscilla Benyahia, Nadine Byrne, Toril Johannessen, Bella Rune , Ylva Snöfrid & Christine Ödlund
