Petra Lindholm, Fever, Galleri Magnus Karlsson, 11.1–8.2 2020

We are pleased to present Petra Lindholm’s seventh solo exhibition at the gallery. The exhibtion Fever consists of two parts. The new film Bystanders is projected in the darkened inner room. A new series of textile assemblages under the title Book of Changes meet us in the bright front room. It is a poetic reflection on the condition of the earth, constant movement and change of existence.

4 October – 17 November 2019

Filmed in Kathmandu, Nepal, Empty Vessels (2016) follows in the footsteps of climbers as they ascend one of the highest mountains in the world. Distant mountain peaks suggest that the satisfaction of reaching the summit will be short-lived – that the climber’s desire for greater heights is unquenchable, much like contemporary society’s constant desire for new thrills.

Främlingar / Strangers at Hellvi Kännungs, Gotland, Sweden

The exhibition is extended until August 1. Open Wednesday July 31 and August 1 between 2–6 pm!

This exhibition is a personal selection of works that all formally resemble the portrait. Some of them are made as portraits of specific people, while others merely use the human face as a means of expression. Common to all drawings, paintings and sculptures is that the depicted a person is the main motif of the work. The oldest artwork in the exhibition dates from the 17th century, the last one was finished only a few weeks ago.

Susanne Johansson, Johanna Karlsson, Petra Lindholm, Under horisonten / Below the Horizon, Galleri Magnus Karlsson

We are pleased to present Below the Horizon, an exhibition with new works by Susanne Johansson, Johanna Karlsson and Petra Lindholm. The exhibition has been developed through a long dialogue between the artists. The works included resonate with each other and bring up mutual investigations despite different expressions and techniques. Nature is both the setting and plays the lead part in the practice of these three artists.

Landscape is alive.
Landscape speaks, sounds and draws the spaces it consists of.
It is made of earth, air, water, lights and shadows,
of gestures, actions, occurrences and intentions,
of voids and solids.
Landscape is not inside our mind, it is in our hands and in our eyes.

Petra Lindholm, Västerås Konstmuseum, Sweden

The exhibition "EMPTY VESSELS" by Petra Lindholm contains various interpretations of mountains and people on expeditions. Images of hilly landscapes have been with the artist for quite some time. It started with some negatives she got from her grandfather, shot by a relative about 100 years ago. This lady, the artist’s grandfather’s aunt, took monotonous pictures of the same mountain, over and over again.

Petra Lindholm, Villa Schildt, Ekenäs, Finland

From Press Release (in swedish only):

Petra Lindholm, Thank You for the Music, Kiasma, Finland

Music speaks directly to our emotions. Hearing a song can take us back in time. We copy the dress of our idols, our mood changes with music. Thank You for the Music – How Music Moves Us is an exhibition on how the experiences of listening to music, watching music videos or going to a concert can appear in the life and work of an artist, a music lover, a fan.
