Kent Iwemyr

Storytelling is essential in the artistry of Kent Iwemyr, although it is rarely a straight forward and simple read. He finds the topics in his immediate surroundings, but the paintings combine past and present, as well as dream and reality. Iwemyr follows and observes the struggles, joys and tribulations of humankind. In his drastic, humorous and wayward paintings, the stories become part of something bigger.

Kent Iwemyr was born in 1944 in Hallstahammar, Sweden where he still lives and works. He has since the debut in 1992 exhibited regularly in Sweden and internationally. Berättelsen är central i Kent Iwemyrs konstnärskap, även om den sällan kan läsas rakt och enkelt. Innehållet finner han i sin absoluta närhet och egna vardag, men i målningarna existerar historien och nuet sida vid sida och gränsen mellan dröm och verklighet har suddats ut. Iwemyr följer och iakttar lyhört den enskilda människans kamp, glädje och vedermödor. I hans drastiska, humoristiska och egensinniga målningar blir de till en del av något större.

Kent Iwemyr är född 1944 i Hallstahammar där han fortfarande bor och arbetar. Han har sedan debuten 1992 ställt ut regelbundet i Sverige och internationellt.
