På den tiden när jag var en ung skolpojke snackade vi grabbar mycket om att mönstra på en båt och gå till sjöss. Jag tror det var lockelsen att se världen och de stora äventyren som drog. Men vi alla bodde väldigt långt från hamnarna och de stora haven. Det blev inget av med sjömanslivet för någon av oss då vi fick andra intressen.

Back in the day when I was a young schoolboy, we boys talked a lot about getting on a boat and going to sea. I think it was the allure of seeing the world and the great adventures that followed. But all of us lived very far from the ports and the great seas. In the end there was no sailor life for any of us as we got other interests.
