Galleri Magnus Karlsson is pleased to introduce Mette Björnberg’s third solo exhibition at the gallery.
 
In her previous exhibitions, Mette Björnberg has focused her work on materially rendering manifestations and states of emotion. She has applied a strict form as a contrast to the chaotic life. The sculptural expression has often been draped in the absurd and humoristic.
 
In her new exhibition Signs of Life, Björnberg is still concerned with colour. The work method is also familiar; however there is a greater aesthetic freedom. The sculptures can be linked together and seen as an installation where we are confronted with the issues birth, existence, disease and the inevitability of death. The spatial qualities of the gallery have partly affected these works and skewed the proportions. Signs of Life can be seen as a retrospective of life. With one eye on birth and the other on death, Mette Björnberg invites us into a world consisting of the different elements of life – a world where she is able to materialize the most abstract signs of life. Self-reflection and a yearning for divinity. Stupidity, destruction and dreams.
 
Mette Björnberg was born in 1961, studied at the Malmö Acadamy of Fine Arts and now lives in Södra Mellby in the south of Sweden.

Galleri Magnus Karlsson har glädjen att presentera Mette Björnbergs tredje separatutställning på galleriet.
 
Mette Björnberg har i sina tidigare utställningar arbetat med formgivna känsloyttringar eller känslotillstånd. Hon har använt sig av en strikt form som kontrast till det kaos som är livet. Det skulpturala uttrycket har ofta klätts in i det absurda och humoristiska. 
 
I hennes nya utställning Livstecken är fortfarande färgen central. Också det metodiska känns igen, men nu finns en större formmässig frihet. Skulpturerna kan länkas samman till en installation där vi får ta del av födelsen, existensen, sjukdomen och den oundvikliga döden. Galleriets rumsliga förutsättningar har delvis präglat dessa verk och skalan har ökat. Livstecken kan ses som en livsretrospektiv. Med en blick på födelsen och en på döden bjuder Mette Björnberg in oss i en värld med livets olika beståndsdelar där hon lyckas materialisera de mest abstrakta livstecknen. Självreflexion och gudslängtan. Dumhet, förstörelse och drömmar.
 
Mette Björnberg är född 1963 och efter studier på bl.a. Malmö Konsthögskola numera bosatt i Södra Mellby på Österlen.
