Mamma Andersson was born in Luleå, Sweden in 1962. She lives and works in Stockholm, where she also studied at The Royal Institute of Art (1986–1993). Mamma Andersson is one of Sweden’s most internationally recognized artists and has exhibited in galleries and museums around the world. She represented Sweden at the Venice Biennale in 2003 and made an extensive presentation (as an artist and curator) at the São Paulo Biennale in 2018. Her paintings are included in collections at museums such as MoMA, New York, MoCA, Los Angeles, The National Museum, Oslo, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebæk, Moderna Museet, Stockholm and Magasin III, Stockholm. She recently had a large solo exhibition at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark called Humdrum Days. She is represented by Gallery Magnus Karlsson, Stockholm, Stephen Friedman Gallery, London and David Zwirner, New York.
